stuff i use
Here's a list of my current devices
laptop
MacBook Air M5 16GB RAM / 256GB Storage
This is the base model MacBook Air. I do a lot of cloud development through SSH, so I don't need a lot of processing and just use it like a powerful thin client. I've had no issues with anything and I love the long battery life, very convenient to throw it in my backpack and pick off hours later with very little drain.
I upgraded from an AMD Lenovo Thinkpad P14S Gen 1, which was very powerful and I bought decommissioned for only like $400. It also had upgradable memory which allows up to 32GB but the battery life was really a big complaint, it only lasted maybe 4 hours at most when running it non-stop, and leaving it on sleep and putting it into my backpack can drain it overnight which makes it impossible to use when traveling. I had very little issues with its processing though, and still think its an incredible laptop.
phone
iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB
I had the iPhone 13 Pro before this, and I upgraded because of the battery life and USB-C port primarily, and my phone started to struggle with running games and overheating. I play gacha games occasionally and fps and emulators, and its capable of running games smoothly without too much heat. I also like to use a GameSir G8+ MFI controller and its nice on the go, without having to buy and carry around a steam deck or handheld pc when I travel.
pc
Intel i5-12400F / RTX 3070 Ti FE / 32GB DDR4
I have Windows running on this and I only really use it for pc gaming because most of my work is delegated to my MacBook now, and it just uses a lot more power and is overkill most of the time.
tablet
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE
I draw using Krita occasionally and I also have a Wacom Intuos BT but wanted something I can take standalone. I bought this in 2025, but now this primarily lives on my nightstand and I leave things running in the background or use it like a data dashboard or calendar for my room. I also really like DeX mode on Samsung devices and being able to have multiple tabs open at the same time.
e-reader
Kindle Paperwhite (KOReader)
I prefer to read on e-ink displays and I used to like physical books a lot but I just don't like the amount of space physical books require. I love the flush front and screen-to-body ratio compared to other e-readers, and I found a really good deal on Prime Day so I purchased it in 2023. Prior to installing KOReader on it, I really disliked the native Kindle file manager and sideloading process. It's very easy now with Calibre and sending it directly to KOReader though, and. I use a PU leather case with a cover from CoBak and it auto-wakes when i open it.
Xteink X4 (Crosspoint)
This is my secondary e-reader, I really like how portable it is compared to the Kindle which is a bit too large to fit into a pocket. My only real issues are the lack of a backlight and that I need to click the button to turn the page rather than tapping a screen. It's also very convenient to sync with my Calibre library through Crosspoint.
camera
Sony a6000
I like taking photos on my APS-C camera, but I don't like carrying it around at all. My iPhone picture quality is just so good as well and I'm always carrying it anyways, but I do own this Sony a6000 and I like that sorta nostalgic feeling of pictures taken on it and I like the pop-up flash despite it being awful most of the time, just a really good aesthetic. The battery life is absolutely horrendous and it uses micro-usb.
